1890, Venice, Italy.
The citizens of Venice have always believed creatures of the night, and other such things, to be of myth, and nothing more than that. They attend their masquerade balls, wearing their elaborate masks and dresses, without a care in the world. Without fear.
And then they start disappearing.
Bodies turn up all over Venice, drained of blood and with puncture wounds in their necks, leading the higher up figures to suspect animal attacks, and when wolves, of all things, start to show up all over the city, they believe themselves to be right. However, it isn’t the wolves that are causing these deaths … The Venetians aren’t the only ones wearing masks.
Vampires.
Originating from Transylvania thousands of years ago, one specific clan, The Order Of The Black Rose, have made their headquarters in Venice, within the esteemed Doge's Palace. Having acquired members from all over the world, they have been slowly turning Venice into a vampire haven, where their kind roam under the shadows - their own little masquerade. Their target; the unsuspected.
Under the humans' watchful eyes, they stalk in the dead of night, fighting their war against the wolves, and turning their prey into family, but how can they be told apart from the humans? They look just like them …
It’s a masquerade.
